Live AI Coastal Briefing

G'day, mates, and welcome to your Wednesday, 27 May, coastal weather report. It's a beautiful part of the world we live in, with our wide beaches, consistent surf, and vibrant dining scene. We're expecting a bit of a wet day today, with a 90% chance of rain, so make sure you've got your umbrella handy.

Out in the ocean, the wave height is sitting at 2.22 metres, which is well overhead, so it's really only suitable for the experts today. The water temperature is a warm 22.8 degrees Celsius, so you won't need a wetsuit, but the conditions are definitely rough. We've got a high tide coming in at 6:07 pm, with a height of 2.0 metres, and a low tide at 11:38 am, with a height of -2.0 metres.

If you're planning on getting out and about today, the surf is looking good for experienced surfers, but be aware of those rips running along the groynes. For runners and cyclists, the winds are relatively light, blowing at 10 km/h from the southwest, with gusts up to 17 km/h, so it shouldn't be too much of a hindrance. If you're an angler, the rough conditions might make it a bit tricky, and paddleboarders will need to be careful out there, but it's still a great day to get out and enjoy the ocean.

As we head into the afternoon, the rain is likely to continue, so make sure you've got your plans in place. The temperature is expected to reach a high of 24 degrees Celsius, and the UV index is low, so you won't need to worry too much about sun protection. Despite the wet weather, it's still going to be a great day to get out and enjoy our beautiful coastline, so grab your board, your bike, or your fishing rod, and make the most of it – stay safe, and we'll catch you back here tomorrow.
