Live AI Coastal Briefing
G'day, and welcome to your Wednesday, 27 May, coastal weather report. It's a warm and tropical morning here in our little slice of paradise, with the temperature already sitting at 18C under a heavy overcast sky. We're expecting a pretty wild day ahead, with a 100% chance of rain and possible morning storms, so make sure you're prepared for a wet one.
Out in the ocean, the wave height is currently sitting at 1.66m, which is overhead and powerful, so it's really only suitable for experienced surfers today. The water temperature is a warm 22.3C, which is perfect for boardshorts and a fun day in the water, and we're looking at a high tide of 1.9m at 5:45 pm, with a low tide of -1.9m at 11:16 am. The wind is blowing at 9 km/h from the WSW, with gusts up to 16 km/h, which will add to the chop out there.
If you're planning on getting out and about today, you'll want to take the weather into account - surfers will need to be experienced to tackle the big waves, while runners and cyclists might want to consider alternative routes to avoid the rain. Fishermen might find the rough conditions make it tough to get out on the water, and paddleboarders will need to be careful not to get caught in any storms. The low UV index and warm water temperature do make it a great day to get out and enjoy the ocean, though, as long as you're prepared for the conditions.
As we head into the afternoon, the rain is likely to continue, so make sure you've got your umbrella and rain jacket handy. The temperature will peak at 24C, but it's going to feel pretty cool and gloomy with all the cloud cover around. Despite the wild weather, it's still going to be a great day to get out and enjoy our beautiful coastline, so grab your board or your bike, and get out there and make the most of it - stay safe, and we'll catch you back here tomorrow.
