Acireale lies north of Catania on Sicily’s volcanic east coast, with high terraces, lava rock shoreline and fishing villages such as Santa Maria la Scala below. It is a quieter, more local coastal page.

The local anchor is the Timpa landscape and the historic town above the sea. Baroque streets, viewpoints and fishing villages give Acireale its identity.

Food follows the Etna coast: seafood, citrus, granita, pistachio and local wines, often enjoyed after a swim rather than directly on a broad beach.
