Mondello

Mondello is Palermo’s classic sandy beach, set in a bright bay between Monte Pellegrino and Capo Gallo. It is the city’s best-known bathing escape and one of Sicily’s most recognisable urban beaches.

The local anchor is the old beach establishment on the water and the village atmosphere around the bay. Mondello is tied to Palermo, but it has its own seaside identity.

The Landscape

The landscape is a wide crescent of pale sand and turquoise water, framed by limestone mountains and protected headlands. The shallow nearshore makes it approachable for families in settled conditions.
