About ALEMÃES
Alemães belongs to Albufeira and sits within the lively central and eastern shoreline of Albufeira, where sandy coves and urban beaches sit beneath pale-gold cliffs. Alemães forms the eastern continuation of Albufeira’s long urban beach, below hotels and the town’s seafront slopes.
The Vibe
The character of Alemães is social and convenient, with beach hours flowing easily into cafés, restaurants, shopping and evening entertainment. People arrive for family beach time, but many remain for exploring Albufeira’s old centre and the pleasure of watching the coast change through the day.
Space, light and salt air do most of the work. During the busiest weeks, earlier and later hours are especially rewarding.
Today's Coastal Conditions

The water temperature is 19.5°C, making a spring suit or rashie a good choice for water activities. The clear Atlantic water and limestone scenery provide a beautiful setting for swimming and other ocean activities. The wave conditions are suitable for swimmers, but surfers may find the waves too small.
The wind is currently 15 km/h from the north, with gusts of up to 31 km/h, which may affect cycling, running, and surfing plans. It's essential to take precautions against the very high UV index, avoiding direct sun between 11am and 3pm. For surfers, the small wave conditions may not be ideal, but the clear water and scenic surroundings still make for a pleasant experience.

The Setting
The Local Anchor
The beach is best understood in relation to Albufeira’s old fishing identity and its modern role as one of Portugal’s best-known holiday towns. The meeting of old streets and modern seafront life reflects Albufeira’s change from fishing settlement to international resort.
A visit can extend naturally beyond the shore. Restaurants emphasise fish and shellfish, while nearby towns or villages add markets, historic streets and evening terraces.
The Landscape
The scenery combines golden sand framed by eroded limestone and sandstone, with viewpoints, paths and built-up neighbourhoods above. Rocky points divide the shore into bays and alter the feel of the sea over short distances. Conditions can be inviting in settled weather, but headlands and rock formations create local changes in swell and current.
Exploring beyond the busiest section reveals geology, vegetation and local coastal use. Alemães works as a bathing place, a walking destination and a viewpoint, provided daily sea guidance is respected.
For visitors, Alemães is most memorable when the beach and its surrounding community are experienced together.
