The Landscape

The bathing area combines swimming pools with a shore of pebbles and black volcanic sand. Built platforms create level space at the foot of slopes that rise abruptly inland, showing the vertical geography typical of Madeira.

The valley channels views toward the mountains, while the Atlantic remains fully open in the opposite direction. Buildings gather densely around the river mouth and waterfront, giving the complex a strong sense of being part of a real town.
