About Calpe

The Vibe

Calpe is defined by scale and contrast: long resort beaches, a working fishing port and the immense limestone profile of the Peñón de Ifach.

The seafront is active and well equipped, but the rock, salt flats and older streets give the destination more character than its apartment skyline suggests.

Arenal-Bol and La Fossa offer broad sandy bathing areas on opposite sides of the headland, with conditions varying according to wind direction.

It is the relationship between the shore and the place behind it that prevents the destination from feeling interchangeable.

Dry hills, intense light and a long relationship with fishing and maritime trade give this coast a character that extends beyond its modern resort development.

Today's Beach Report

It's Saturday, July 11, and what a beautiful day we have ahead of us. This morning, the clear skies and moderate breeze are setting the tone for a fantastic day by the coast. With the temperature expected to rise to 32°C, it's going to be a warm and sunny day, perfect for all sorts of outdoor activities. As the day unfolds, we can expect more of the same, with clear skies and a gentle breeze, making it an ideal day to get out and enjoy the beautiful coastal scenery.

The beach is looking particularly inviting today, with a calm and gentle surf, and very small ripples of just 0.3m. The warm water temperature of 26.7°C is perfect for swimmers, surfers, and paddleboarders to enjoy the ocean. With these conditions, it's an excellent day for water sports, and the sheltered coves in our area offer some of the best snorkelling opportunities. For surfers, the exposed northern coast may receive some more swell, but overall, the conditions are ideal for a fun day in the water. And for those planning to take a boat out, the offshore conditions are expected to be moderate, with a southerly component, but this won't affect the beach conditions.

For runners and cyclists, the morning conditions are perfect, with clear skies and a moderate breeze. However, as we head into the afternoon, it's essential to remember that the UV index is expected to peak at 9, which is very high. To avoid direct sun, it's crucial to plan your outdoor activities accordingly, and make sure to have full coverage, especially between 12pm and 4pm. If you're planning a tennis match or a bike ride, consider doing it during the morning or later in the evening when the sun is not as strong. The coastal path, with its scenic views, is an excellent route for a morning run or cycle, and the rocky terrain surrounding our village offers some great trails for trail running.

As the afternoon develops, we can expect more of the same clear skies and moderate breeze, making it an excellent day for outdoor activities. By lunchtime, it's still going to be sunny and warm, and as we head into the evening, the temperature will start to drop, but it will still be a pleasant evening. Although we don't have detailed information on the evening conditions, it's likely to remain warm and calm. So, make the most of this beautiful day, get out and enjoy the coastal scenery, and take advantage of the excellent conditions for water sports and outdoor activities. Have a fantastic day, and we'll see you out and about in our beautiful coastal village.

The Setting

The Local Anchor

The Peñón de Ifach is the unavoidable landmark, rising from the coast within a protected natural park and visible from across the northern Costa Blanca.

The fishing port, archaeological remains and historic old town recall a settlement shaped by more than modern tourism.

Together, these landmarks explain why the modern beach should be read as one chapter in a much longer coastal story.

The Landscape

Sand, marina water, salt flats and a sheer limestone monolith meet within a compact area.

Behind the coast, Alicante’s ridges add depth to the view, while the rock creates a strong sense of orientation from every beach.

The Mediterranean is often inviting, but easterly winds and short-period storms can change an apparently gentle shore surprisingly quickly.

Calpe is ideal for visitors wanting a full resort beach with walking, nature and a memorable landmark.

For a first visit, the most useful approach is to walk the waterfront before choosing where to settle, because exposure, access and atmosphere can change over a surprisingly short distance.

Whatever the season, wind, swell, tide and beach flags remain more reliable than appearance alone when deciding whether to enter the water.
