About Dénia
The town feels active throughout the year, with ferries, fishing boats, markets and local neighbourhoods continuing beyond the summer season. Around the port and centre, restaurants and terraces create an easy evening atmosphere without separating visitors from daily town life. Families often favour the broad northern beaches, while walkers, snorkellers and people seeking smaller access points are drawn towards Les Rotes. Summer brings fuller beaches and heavier traffic, but the size of the coast makes it possible to choose between busy urban sections and quieter stretches farther from the centre.
Today's Beach Report
Today is Friday, August 28. The day will start very cloudy this morning, with light winds. By lunchtime, skies remain cloudy but a moderate breeze picks up. As the afternoon develops, the wind continues to blow steadily. Heading into this evening, details about the sky and wind are unavailable. Temperatures reach up to 28°C.
The beach offers moderate waves this morning, with very small ripples measuring just half a meter. Water temperature is 26.3°C, making it warm enough for swimwear. Conditions are excellent for all water sports. Surfers may find the waves small but consistent, while paddleboarders and swimmers enjoy calm waters. Anyone taking a boat out should expect stronger conditions offshore, with rougher seas and possible showers or thunderstorms.
Runners and cyclists this morning encounter light winds under very cloudy skies. Strong sun protection is essential, with a high UV index peaking at 7. This means SPF 50+ sunscreen is crucial, reapplied every 90 minutes. As the afternoon develops, the breeze picks up, which may affect cycling routes or running trails exposed to wind. Tennis players might also need to adjust for the increased wind.
Tomorrow is expected to be cooler than today, with overcast skies and a southeasterly wind picking up to moderate speeds. The day after brings mostly clear skies and slightly warmer temperatures, with stronger winds coming from the south.

The Setting
Denia stands on the northern Costa Blanca between the Mediterranean and the Montgo massif. It is a working port, an established town and a varied coastal base rather than a single beach resort. More than twenty kilometres of shoreline divide broadly into the sandy beaches of Les Marines to the north and the rocky coves of Les Rotes to the south, giving visitors very different ways to experience the sea.
Denia Castle rises above the old centre and remains the clearest reference point from many parts of town. Below it, the port explains much of Denia's identity: ferries leave for the Balearic Islands, fishing activity remains visible and the waterfront connects the historic settlement with the modern coast. Local food is closely tied to the sea and surrounding farmland, so a visit works best when the beach is combined with the market, harbour and older streets rather than treated as an isolated day beside the water.
North of town, Les Marines forms a long sequence of sandy beaches, with broad sections, low dunes and an open horizon. South of the port, Marineta Cassiana leads towards Les Rotes, where rock platforms, small coves and clear shallows replace the continuous sand. Parts of this southern coast belong to the protected marine environment around Cape San Antonio, with seagrass and rocky seabed supporting rich underwater life. Sea conditions can differ between the open northern beaches and the more irregular southern coves, so the exact access point should always be judged on the day.
