L'Espigó, Altea
The Local Anchor

Your true north is the Church of Nuestra Señora del Consuelo, whose magnificent blue and white tiled domes are a beacon visible from the beach. This iconic 17th-century parish, crowning the hill, is more than a landmark; it is the town's spiritual and cultural nucleus. Its presence anchors the beach to centuries of history, from Moorish foundations to its modern-day reputation as a haven for creatives. The climb to its plaza rewards you with breathtaking panoramic views, connecting the tranquil sea below with the town's enduring heritage.
The Landscape
L'Espigó is a graceful crescent of smooth, grey pebbles and gravel, shelving gently into the placid, turquoise Mediterranean. The sea here is exceptionally clear and calm, protected by breakwaters that create a vast, serene swimming basin. The landscape is one of clean lines and subtle textures, where the smooth stones underfoot offer a unique connection to the earth. Gazing out from the shore, the dramatic, sheer cliffs of the Sierra Helada Natural Park frame the northern view, while on the clearest of days, the monumental Peñón de Ifach rises like a distant monolith from the sea.
