The Vibe

El Cavaió opens east of Arenys de Mar in a wide sweep of golden sand, offering more space and a calmer rhythm than the compact beaches close to the town centre.

The beach is popular in summer and well equipped, yet its exceptional width prevents it from feeling narrow or enclosed. Families gather around the main access points, children use the play areas, and the water is usually described as calm during ordinary bathing conditions.

The mood is distinctly Mediterranean: bright sand, low waves, and the movement of people between the beach, nearby roads, and the neighbouring town of Canet de Mar.

The Local Anchor

Arenys de Mar is anchored by its port, one of the most important fishing and recreational harbours on the Maresme coast.

The fishing fleet and fish market preserve the town’s working relationship with the sea, while restaurants serve local fish, squid, prawns, and traditional Catalan dishes.

The historic centre rises slightly inland, with narrow streets and the church of Santa Maria linking the modern beach frontage to an older maritime town.

The Landscape

The Arenys section of El Cavaió extends for approximately 900 metres and reaches an unusual average width of more than 100 metres.

Its surface is golden sand and the beach continues towards the municipal boundary with Canet de Mar. The setting is urban and occupation is high during the principal season.

Toilets, showers, cleaning, sports facilities, children’s areas, and seasonal lounger and parasol rental make it straightforward to use.

El Cavaió’s identity lies in its scale: a broad, accessible city beach closely connected to Arenys’ harbour and the continuous coastal life of the Maresme.
