L'Almadrava

The Vibe

L’Almadrava is a broad urban beach of fine golden sand and warm, generally calm water, extending along one of Benicàssim’s most pleasant pedestrian promenades.

The atmosphere is relaxed but popular. Families move easily between the sand and the traffic-free waterfront, while loungers, nautical rental and sports facilities support an active summer day. Despite high seasonal occupation, the beach’s width allows the Mediterranean horizon to remain open and uncluttered.

The water is usually gentle, giving the shore a softer character than more exposed sections of the Castellón coast.

The Local Anchor

The local anchor is Benicàssim and the historic villas lining the neighbouring Voramar seafront.

These houses recall the town’s early development as a fashionable seaside destination, when affluent families created a summer landscape of gardens, terraces and distinctive architecture beside the beach.

At the southern end, the Torre de Sant Vicent preserves an older defensive history. The name Almadrava also recalls the traditional fishing apparatus once used to capture migrating fish along Mediterranean coasts.

The Landscape

L’Almadrava extends for approximately 600 metres and averages around 50 metres wide.

It lies between Voramar and the beach around the Torre de Sant Vicent, with small breakwaters helping define the adjoining sections. The surface is fine golden sand and official records describe calm bathing water.

Facilities include toilets, showers, foot washing, loungers, parasols, watercraft rental, sports areas and tourist information. Adapted walkways, changing facilities and amphibious bathing support improve accessibility during the managed season.

L’Almadrava combines the convenience of a fully serviced beach with one of Benicàssim’s strongest assets: a safe-feeling pedestrian promenade linking sea, villas and historic tower.
