About Playa de Levante

The Vibe

Playa de Levante is the energetic face of Benidorm, a long sweep of fine golden sand framed by palms, cafés, hotels and one of the Mediterranean’s most recognisable skylines.

The atmosphere begins early and rarely becomes still. Swimmers enter the generally calm water, families gather close to the main access points and the promenade fills with walkers long after the brightest heat has faded. Sports areas, play zones and rows of seasonal loungers give the beach a highly organised character.

This is not a shore for solitude. Its appeal lies in movement, convenience and the sense that the entire city has turned towards the sea.

The Local Anchor

The strongest local anchor is Benidorm’s old town, rising on the headland between Levante and Poniente.

The Balcón del Mediterráneo overlooks the small Mal Pas cove and marks the historic centre of a town that developed from fishing and coastal agriculture into an international resort. Narrow streets, tapas bars and the Church of Sant Jaume provide a more intimate counterpoint to the towers surrounding Levante.

The beach therefore reflects both versions of Benidorm: the older settlement on the headland and the modern vertical city extending behind the sand.

The Landscape

Levante extends for just over two kilometres and reaches a maximum width of approximately 75 metres.

Its surface is fine golden sand, with a broad promenade running almost level with the beach. The eastern end approaches the rocky slopes of Serra Gelada, while the western end leads towards the old town.

Lifeguards, accessible bathing assistance, toilets, foot-washing points, sports and children’s areas, sunshade rental and free seafront Wi-Fi support year-round use.

Levante’s landscape is entirely urban, but the open bay, bright sand and mountain edge prevent the city from completely enclosing the sea.
