The Vibe

The Canet de Mar section of El Cavaió offers a quieter continuation of the broad beach beginning at Arenys.

Golden sand, a flat approach, and generally calm water make it easy to use, while lower occupation gives the shore a more relaxed character than the neighbouring urban section. Walkers and cyclists arrive from the town, and summer beach services add activity without overwhelming the open space.

The atmosphere is simple and local: a wide Maresme beach where the sound of small waves is broken by trains, bicycles, and seasonal life along the coast.

The Local Anchor

Canet de Mar is known for an exceptional concentration of Modernista architecture and for its association with Lluís Domènech i Montaner.

The architect’s house museum and buildings such as Casa Roura give the town a cultural identity far richer than that of a conventional beach resort. Streets of brick, ceramic, ironwork, and older fishermen’s houses rise inland from the shore.

Local restaurants connect this architectural heritage with Mediterranean fish, rice, and seasonal Catalan cooking.

The Landscape

Official sources measure the Canet section of El Cavaió at roughly 520 to 600 metres.

The beach is flat, sandy, and easily reached on foot or by bicycle. Canet’s tourism information links the sandy seabed to the breakdown of the granite underlying the municipality.

Services include toilets, showers, adapted access, surveillance, sports and children’s areas, picnic space, and a seasonal dog-friendly section. Protected dune areas also survive along parts of the beach.

El Cavaió balances accessibility with breathing room: a broad shore beside a town celebrated as much for architecture as for the sea.
