Sa Font de Sa Cala
The Local Anchor
Just a short journey inland, the formidable 14th-century Castell de Capdepera stands sentinel, its ancient stones whispering tales of watchfulness against pirates. This medieval fortress grounds the coast in a deep sense of history. The culinary traditions of the region are just as profound, rooted in the island's bounty. While simple, fresh fish is grilled to perfection at the beachside bar, the true taste of Mallorca is found in the local markets of Capdepera. Here, one can discover artisanal sobrasada and local cheeses, perfect for a rustic pa amb oli—a simple slice of bread rubbed with tomato and drizzled with golden oil, embodying the authentic flavour of the land.
The Landscape
This intimate crescent of fine, pale sand is cradled by low, rugged cliffs and a dense forest of Aleppo pines that offer dappled shade. The bay itself holds a secret; its name, "The Spring of the Cove," reveals the freshwater springs that flow from the earth, one on land and another beneath the waves. This subterranean source infuses the crystal-clear sea, making the water here uniquely refreshing, a touch cooler and less saline than elsewhere along the coast. The result is a pristine natural pool of remarkable clarity, its calm surface reflecting the deep green of the pines and the vast cerulean sky.
