About Salomba

The Vibe

Salomba is a rustic beach near Quilmas, where white sand is mixed with rounded stones and rock along a quiet, lightly visited section of the Carnota coast.

The atmosphere is austere and peaceful. There are no rows of services or formal promenade, and the broken shoreline encourages visitors to find small spaces between the rocks rather than gather on one uninterrupted expanse of sand.

Official records describe the water as generally calm, although the exposed character of this coast still requires attention to wind, tide and changing Atlantic conditions.

The Setting

Salomba — Stone and Still Water at Quilmas

The Local Anchor

The local anchor is Quilmas, a small coastal settlement below Monte Pindo.

Its natural harbour and sequence of coves reflect a coastline historically used by local fishing boats rather than developed for mass tourism. Porto de Quilmas provides the clearest working-maritime focus nearby, where small fishing and recreational craft use the protected inlet.

Salomba forms part of a chain of small shores including Pedrullo and Corna Becerra, each shaped by the same meeting of granite, sand and quiet local use.

The Landscape

Salomba extends for approximately 200 metres and averages around 20 metres wide.

The beach combines white sand, pebbles and exposed rock. It is officially classified as isolated and normally has low occupation. Vehicle access is possible, but there are no substantial visitor services.

Some local references also associate the area with the name O Portiño, reflecting the small inlet and nearby islets along this broken coast.

Its landscape is compact and natural: pale sand interrupted by stone, low coastal vegetation and the granite slopes of the northern Carnota shoreline rising behind Quilmas.
