About Playa la Almadraba

The Vibe

Miramar feels urban, active and less visitor-focused than the central beaches near the Royal Walls. Residents use the shore for swimming, walking and time beside the sea, while the promenade and nearby streets remain part of everyday city life. Summer brings regular use without creating a resort atmosphere.

The southern bay can appear relatively sheltered, but wind and local waves still affect the waterline. The mixed surface includes dark sand, gravel and stones, so footwear is useful. Seasonal facilities are available around recognised bathing sections, while visitors should keep clear of coastal structures and marked navigation areas.

The Setting

About Playa Miramar

Playa Miramar lies on Ceuta's southern urban coastline between El Chorrillo and El Tarajal. Its dark sand-and-gravel shore, open view towards Morocco and close relationship with residential districts create a local beach shaped by the southern bay.

The Local Anchor

The Miramar residential district provides the immediate reference. Ceuta's southern road links the beach with El Chorrillo and the historic centre to the east and Tarajal near the border to the west.

Morocco's mountains dominate the view across the bay and explain the city's unusual geographical position. Restaurants and neighbourhood businesses reflect Ceuta's combined Andalusian, Moroccan and maritime influences.

The Landscape

Dark sand, gravel and rounded stones form a developed shoreline below roads, apartment buildings and sections of promenade. The coast curves gently southward, giving broad views across the bay.

Eastward, the Royal Walls and central skyline become increasingly prominent. Westward, the border landscape and Jebel Musa rise beyond Tarajal. Miramar is defined by urban continuity and orientation: a lived-in city beach looking directly towards North Africa, with homes, road and open water arranged along Ceuta's southern edge. The beach is particularly useful for residents of the surrounding districts who want direct sea access without travelling into the historic centre. The southern orientation also gives the promenade long views towards Morocco throughout the day. The beach also forms part of a longer southern seafront walk towards the city centre. Shops and everyday services remain close behind the road.
