La Almadraba

The Vibe

L’Almadrava is a narrow urban beach where golden sand, gravel and moderate Mediterranean waves meet the northern side of El Campello’s harbour.

The atmosphere is quieter than on Carrer la Mar. Anglers choose positions along the shore, walkers follow the promenade from Punta dels Banyets and boats remain visible around the nearby marina.

Its limited width gives the beach an intimate character, particularly when the tide or waves reduce the available dry shore. The mixed surface also feels more rugged than El Campello’s larger fine-sand beaches.

L’Almadrava — Between Illeta and the Harbour

The Local Anchor

The immediate local anchor is La Illeta dels Banyets, the archaeological site occupying the rocky point beside the beach.

Its remains reveal a long history of settlement and maritime activity, including ancient fish-farming structures cut into the rock and popularly known as the Banys de la Reina. The modern marina and yacht club continue the connection with boating and fishing.

El Campello’s old maritime quarter and fish-market tradition lie close enough to give the beach a clear place within the town’s working seafront.

The Landscape

L’Almadrava extends for approximately 600 metres but averages only around 12 metres wide.

The surface combines gravel and golden sand, while official descriptions record moderate waves. A promenade begins near Punta dels Banyets and follows the shore towards the residential area.

The marina lies only a short distance away. Foot-washing points, bins, cleaning and access by road or on foot provide basic convenience, although the beach is less fully equipped than Carrer la Mar or Muchavista.

L’Almadrava’s identity comes from closeness: archaeological point, harbour and narrow shore gathered along one compact stretch of El Campello’s coast.
