Playa Valdelagrana

Valdelagrana is lively, accessible and built for a full beach day. Families gather near the main walkways, cyclists and runners use the promenade and restaurants remain close to the sand. Summer brings large numbers, but the length and width of the beach provide room beyond the busiest central accesses.

The broad bay setting often produces gentler and shallower-looking water than the open Atlantic beaches farther west, although tides and wind remain important. The long urban shore becomes especially active again during the warm early summer evening hours, when people move from the beach to terraces, the promenade and the seasonal market area.

Playa de Valdelagrana is a long urban beach on the eastern side of El Puerto de Santa Maria, facing across the Bay of Cadiz. Its fine sand, shallow water, substantial promenade and extensive visitor services make it one of the municipality's most popular family beaches.

El Puerto de Santa Maria has a long maritime and wine-making history. The old town lies across the Guadalete and contains bodegas associated with sherry production, while the fishing and leisure waterfront connects the municipality with the Bay of Cadiz.

At the southern end of Valdelagrana, the Parque Metropolitano Marisma de los Torunos y Pinar de la Algaida provides paths through salt marsh, pine woodland and tidal channels. This protected landscape offers a quieter counterpoint to the urban promenade.

Fine golden sand follows a broad curve beneath a long line of apartments, restaurants and palms. Across the bay, Cadiz appears on the horizon, while tidal flats and shallow water alter the colour and scale of the view.

Towards Los Torunos, buildings thin and dunes, marsh vegetation and the Rio San Pedro landscape become more prominent. The urban and natural sections are connected by the same continuous shore. Valdelagrana's identity comes from this combination: a heavily used, well-serviced beach that opens directly onto one of the bay's most important wetland and pine systems.
