About Cala Mitjana

The Vibe

Cala sa Nau gathers the Mediterranean into a narrow, sheltered inlet on the Felanitx coast, where the sea is framed by pale rock before opening onto a compact beach.

The setting feels enclosed rather than expansive. Water, sand and the steep sides of the cove occupy most of the view, while the approach from inland gives little away until the shoreline is close. In summer the beach can be busy, yet its shape still creates a contained atmosphere, with the surrounding stone drawing attention towards the water.

This is not an isolated wilderness. It is an established bathing place with seasonal services, but the cove retains a clear physical identity beyond them.

The Setting

Cala sa Nau — A Narrow Inlet of Eastern Mallorca

The Local Anchor

Cala sa Nau lies within Felanitx, between the coastal areas of Portocolom and Cala Ferrera. The municipal beach network places it among a sequence of eastern coves that also includes Cala Mitjana and Cala Serena, each separated by rocky headlands and reached by its own approach.

Its name is especially important here. The bathing-water identifier and coordinates belong to Cala sa Nau, not to nearby Cala Mitjana, which is a smaller and more difficult-to-reach cove farther along this coast.

The Landscape

The beach is sandy and sits at the landward end of an inlet that widens towards the shore. Low limestone walls enclose both sides, limiting long coastal views but giving the water a strong visual presence.

Felanitx lists road access, signage and parking, together with toilets, showers, seasonal lifeguarding and places for refreshments. These practical elements make the cove accessible, while the surrounding rock and compact scale keep the landscape distinctly Mallorcan: a small opening in the island’s eastern limestone edge rather than a broad resort beach.
