About Platja de Llevant

The Vibe

Platja de Llevant occupies the eastern face of the narrow Es Trucadors peninsula, turning away from the celebrated curve of Ses Illetes towards an open horizon.

Its scale brings a sense of space. Long sections of pale sand allow the shoreline to unfold gradually, interrupted in places by low rocky projections that form smaller pockets along the water. Buildings are scarce, and the beach is experienced mainly through sand, wind, sea and the low profile of the peninsula.

The atmosphere changes with exposure. Llevant faces east and is more open to winds from that direction than the western shore, so the surface of the water should never be assumed to remain still simply because the neighbouring side is sheltered.

The Local Anchor

The beach lies within the Ses Salines d’Eivissa i Formentera Natural Park. Across the narrow neck of land is Ses Illetes; in some places only a short walk separates the two coasts.

Behind Llevant, the dune system, raised walkways and a small wooded area create a natural division between the beach and the salt ponds. This relationship between open sea, dunes and saltern landscape is central to northern Formentera and explains the careful management of vehicle access within the protected area.

The Landscape

Official island tourism information describes approximately 1,450 metres of fine white sand, with an average width of around 90 metres. The beach runs south towards Ses Canyes and north to Punta des Trucadors.

Footbridges cross the dunes, reducing pressure on fragile vegetation. Access by car or motorcycle into the natural park is controlled and normally charged during the managed season, while bicycles and walking offer a quieter approach. Seasonal kiosks remain few, leaving the peninsula’s long, low geography as the defining presence.
