Cala Conta, Ibiza
The Local Anchor
Perched above the crystalline waters, restaurants like Ses Roques and S'Illa des Bosc stand as culinary guardians of the island's maritime soul. Here, the authentic taste of Ibiza is served in the form of Bullit de Peix, a traditional fishermen's stew. This cherished dish, born from the daily catch of rockfish like grouper and scorpionfish, is simmered with potatoes and saffron, its intense flavour a testament to the sea's bounty. It’s a recipe passed through generations, connecting the modern sunseeker to the island's humble fishing heritage, a taste of the real Ibiza just steps from the sand.
The Landscape
Cala Conta is not a single stretch of sand, but a collection of coves—Platges de Comte—each offering a unique perspective. One cove is backed by soft, golden dunes, while another is framed by rugged, ochre cliffs from which stone steps are hewn into the rock. The water itself is a marvel, a startling spectrum of turquoise and azure, so clear that the meadows of Posidonia seagrass are visible below. Dotted on the horizon, the small islands of s'Illa des Bosc and sa Conillera break the expanse of the Mediterranean, creating a panoramic vista that feels both wild and serene.
