About Santa Cristina

A whisper on the Costa Brava, Santa Cristina is less a beach and more a cherished secret, tucked away from the spirited pulse of Lloret de Mar. It is a cove of uncommon grace, a sanctuary for the soul weary of the commonplace.

The Vibe

The air here is thick with the scent of Aleppo pine and salt, a wild perfume that calms the senses. Unlike its more boisterous neighbours, Santa Cristina hums with a quieter energy. The soundscape is one of gentle waves lapping against fine, golden sand and the murmur of families enjoying the sheltered, crystalline waters. It’s a haven of serene, unhurried leisure, where the day unfolds to the rhythm of the sun and the soft chatter of those who have discovered its tranquil embrace.

The Setting

The Local Anchor

Perched on the cliff above, gazing eternally out to sea, is the hermitage of Santa Cristina. This graceful neoclassical chapel, with roots stretching back to the 14th century, is the spiritual guardian of the cove. It holds the stories of local fishermen who, for generations, have paid homage to their patron saint. Each July, a maritime procession brings her relics to the shore, a testament to a faith as deep as the Mediterranean. Below, beachside restaurants honour another tradition, serving paellas and fresh seafood that taste of the very sea before you.

The Landscape

Two verdant headlands cradle the beach, shielding it from wind and wave and preserving its placid, shallow waters. A path descends through a shady pine forest, a preamble to the beauty below. The sand is a soft, golden expanse leading to turquoise waters so clear they reveal the vibrant marine life beneath. To the right, a cluster of rocks forms a natural gateway to the even more secluded Cala Treumal, a wilder, untouched sister cove waiting to be explored.
