About El Arenal
The Vibe
S’Arenal is an urban Mediterranean beach where the long sweep of Platja de Palma reaches the municipality of Llucmajor and settles beside a dense, active seaside neighbourhood.
The mood is social rather than secluded. The promenade, hotels, restaurants and everyday movement of the town remain close to the sand, creating a shoreline that belongs as much to local routine as to the holiday season. Its popularity and extensive services should not be confused with uniform conditions at sea. The bay is open, and daily wind, flags and lifeguard information remain the proper guide for entering the water.

The Setting
S’Arenal — The Last Curve of Palma Bay
The Local Anchor
The official local name is S’Arenal. Its Llucmajor section begins at the Torrent des Jueus, the watercourse marking the municipal boundary with Palma, and continues towards the Club Nàutic Arenal.
The settlement developed from a much smaller coastal place. Llucmajor’s tourism authority dates its beginnings to around 1887, when improved road access and the division of nearby rural estates encouraged permanent growth. What followed was one of Mallorca’s best-known resort districts, closely tied to the wider development of Platja de Palma.
The Landscape
The Llucmajor beach forms the final stretch of a much longer sandy arc. Official municipal information describes fine sand and a gentle gradient, backed throughout by the seafront promenade and the built edge of S’Arenal.
This is a managed urban beach rather than a natural cove. Access points, public transport, seasonal beach services and nearby amenities are integral to its character. At the eastern end, beyond the marina, the coast changes: sand gives way to rock and a sequence of smaller inlets towards Son Verí and Cala Blava, making S’Arenal a clear transition between Palma Bay’s continuous beach and Llucmajor’s rockier southern shoreline.
