About La Concha
The Vibe
La Concha lies inside Los Alcázares rather than apart from it, a compact urban beach where the town reaches the quiet water of the Mar Menor. The marina and yacht club bring a measured nautical presence, while the promenade keeps the shore open to walkers, families and residents moving through the centre.
The water is usually visually calm because this is a sheltered lagoon coast, but the character is not that of a secluded cove. Boats, masts and the low line of the opposite shore belong to the view, giving the beach a settled, lived-in atmosphere.

The Setting
Playa de La Concha — The Old Bathhouse on the Mar Menor
The Local Anchor
The most distinctive feature is the surviving traditional balneario, one of the timber bathing structures associated with the historic resort culture of the Mar Menor. These platforms recall the period when visitors came to Los Alcázares for prolonged bathing and the reputed therapeutic qualities of the lagoon.
The beach also sits beside the Puerto Deportivo and Club Náutico Mar Menor. At its northern side, the former air base provides another part of the town’s identity, linking Los Alcázares with the early history of Spanish military aviation.
The Landscape
Official regional information describes La Concha as an urban beach about 207 metres long and roughly 30 metres wide, with coarse sand. It extends between the air-base area and Calle José de Fontes and looks directly towards the marina.
Access is straightforward from the town and promenade, with seasonal beach services and adapted facilities recorded by the tourism authority. The enduring impression, however, comes from the arrangement of water, harbour and old bathhouse: a short piece of shoreline where the social history of the Mar Menor remains visible beside the modern town.
