Playa Puerto Banus

Puerto Banus is lively, polished and built around convenience. Families, marina visitors and international holidaymakers move easily between the sand, waterfront terraces and shopping streets. The beach becomes crowded in summer because its location is central and the sandy frontage is more compact than Marbella's long eastern beaches.

Harbour structures influence the water and reduce the sense of exposure found farther along the coast. Conditions still vary with wind and vessel movement, while seasonal rescue services and nearby facilities support a conventional beach day. The promenade remains active well into the evening.

Playa Puerto Banus lies immediately east of Marbella's famous marina and is also commonly known as Playa de Levante. Its golden sand, sheltered-looking water and close access to luxury shops, restaurants and yachts create one of the Costa del Sol's most recognisable urban beach settings.

Puerto Banus is the defining landmark. Opened in 1970, the marina combines leisure boats, luxury retail, restaurants and nightlife within a dense waterfront district. Yachts and harbour movement provide the beach's constant visual backdrop.

Nueva Andalucia lies inland and west, while Marbella's Golden Mile and central beaches extend east. Local restaurants range from international dining to Malaga traditions such as grilled fish, seafood and sardine espetos, although the marina setting remains more cosmopolitan than a fishing village.

Golden sand forms a compact curve beside breakwaters, harbour walls and low waterfront buildings. Masts and yachts dominate one side, while the Mediterranean opens beyond the marina entrance.

La Concha rises inland behind Marbella and provides a dramatic mountain reference from clear viewpoints. Westward, beaches continue through Nueva Andalucia; eastward, Rio Verde and the Golden Mile lead towards central Marbella. Playa Puerto Banus is defined by contrast: ordinary time on the sand set beside one of Europe's most famous leisure marinas. The eastern side also provides easy promenade access towards Rio Verde and the Golden Mile, making the beach a practical starting point for a longer coastal walk.
