About Masbo
The Vibe
Masbó is one of Moncofa’s principal urban beaches, an 800-metre shoreline where palms, planted shade and a promenade give the seafront the appearance of a small Mediterranean oasis.
The atmosphere is relaxed but active. Families gather near the main entrances, walkers follow the coast and seasonal services keep the beach connected with the life of the Grau. It is more developed than L’Estanyol or Beniesma, yet remains modest in scale compared with the large resort fronts farther south.
The mixed shore and open water preserve some of Moncofa’s characteristic ruggedness beneath the organised promenade.

The Setting
Masbó — Palms and Promenade Beside the Old Lagoon
The Local Anchor
The local anchor is the Grau de Moncofa, a maritime neighbourhood shaped by fishermen’s houses, summer residences and the long relationship between the town and its beaches.
Masbó’s name is linked to a freshwater lagoon that once occupied the landward side of the shore. The water is now carried through the Masbó channel, but the name preserves the former wetland geography beneath the modern seafront.
Moncofa’s coastal trail connects the beach with neighbouring stretches and provides a simple way to explore the municipality on foot.
The Landscape
Masbó extends for approximately 800 metres along the developed coastline north of the quieter natural beaches.
Palms and other mature planting soften the promenade, while the channel provides a visible reminder of the drainage systems crossing the low coastal plain. Sand and rounded pebbles may both occur along the waterline.
The beach is accessible and fully integrated into the maritime settlement, with lifeguards, foot-washing points, toilets, sports facilities and nearby restaurants available seasonally.
Masbó’s identity comes from layering: an old lagoon beneath a modern promenade, a practical urban beach and the low wetland plain of Castellón immediately inland.
