The Vibe

La Caleta curves beneath the reddish rock of Cabo Roig, forming a broad, sheltered beach where calm water and golden sand create one of Orihuela Costa’s most comfortable urban bathing places.

The atmosphere is relaxed but sociable. Families gather close to the main entrances, swimmers remain within the protection of the cape and the nearby marina brings sailing activity to the edge of the view. Even outside summer, the beach remains part of local life and has been promoted for low-season leisure and sporting activity.

The enclosing walls of the cape reduce the sense of open exposure found on the longer beaches farther south.

The Local Anchor

The Torre de Cabo Roig is the beach’s defining local landmark.

Built as part of the Mediterranean defensive network, the watchtower warned of incursions from the sea and is now protected as a Bien de Interés Cultural. It stands above the beach, linking the present residential coast with a time when this headland was watched for approaching vessels.

The Cabo Roig marina lies beside the cove and supports sailing and recreational boating, while nearby restaurants provide seafood, rice dishes and familiar Mediterranean cooking.

The Landscape

La Caleta is officially mapped as a sandy urban beach roughly 330 to 390 metres long, depending on the coastal section used for measurement.

Golden sand lies between rocky walls, with the cape sheltering generally calm water. The marina sits immediately beside the beach, while steps and local streets provide access from the residential area above.

Services include toilets, foot-washing points, lounger and parasol rental, nautical equipment and seasonal cleaning and supervision.

La Caleta’s landscape is shaped by protection: cape behind, harbour beside and a gently enclosed Mediterranean bay ahead.
