About Gafa
The Vibe
A Gafa is a short beach of fine sand at the foot of the village sharing its name, on the northern side of Porto do Son’s long coastline.
The atmosphere is local and lightly developed. The beach is small enough to feel intimate, yet its open classification gives it more exposure than the harbour-facing sands of nearby Portosín. Wind and swell can therefore alter the water quickly, despite the wider shelter of the Ría de Muros e Noia.
Walkers encounter the beach as part of a coast formed from small coves, rocky points and residential villages rather than one continuous resort frontage.

The Setting
A Gafa — A Small Open Beach Near Portosín
The Local Anchor
Portosín provides the strongest nearby local anchor.
Its marina, fishing harbour and sheltered bay form one of the principal nautical centres in the municipality. Sailing activity and small-boat movement remain visible around this part of the ría, while restaurants connect the waterfront with fish, shellfish and Galician coastal cooking.
A Gafa belongs to the parish of Miñortos and lies beyond the busier harbour, preserving a quieter village identity.
The Landscape
Turismo de Galicia records A Gafa as approximately 85 metres long.
The beach has fine sand and is classified as open, distinguishing it from the more protected beaches immediately around the Portosín harbour. The supplied coordinates place it close to neighbouring Ornanda and other small Miñortos shores.
Access is available from the local road and village. Facilities are limited, so visitors should not expect the equipment of a major supervised beach.
A Gafa also lies on Porto do Son’s long coastal walking network, which links the municipality’s beaches and heritage sites.
Its character is modest and direct: a small sandy opening below the village, with Portosín nearby and the broad waters of the ría extending beyond the rocks.
