About La Carolina
The Vibe
La Carolina forms a long, lightly developed shore near the eastern limit of Pulpí, where golden sand and gravel meet generally calm Mediterranean water.
The atmosphere is open and unpolished. There is no dense commercial promenade immediately behind the beach, and visitors come mainly for space, straightforward bathing conditions, and the feeling of being beyond the busiest parts of San Juan de los Terreros.
The mixed surface gives the shoreline a firmer, more rugged quality than a conventional fine-sand resort beach. Beach footwear can be useful where gravel becomes more exposed.

The Setting
La Carolina — Open Water at Pulpí’s Eastern Edge
The Local Anchor
San Juan de los Terreros provides the nearest everyday centre, with shops, restaurants, and the castle overlooking the surrounding coast.
The village and its offshore islets form the best-known maritime image of Pulpí, while the giant gypsum geode at Mina Rica anchors the municipality inland. Together they create an unusual local identity built from clear water, volcanic forms, and mineral geology.
Food along this coast reflects the border between Almería and Murcia through rice dishes, grilled fish, seafood, and produce from the dry agricultural interior.
The Landscape
Official records describe La Carolina as approximately one kilometre long and around 22 metres wide.
The shore combines gravel and golden sand and is classified as isolated despite being accessible by road. Occupation is normally moderate rather than completely solitary.
The beach has few permanent services or structures. This preserves an uncluttered horizon but means visitors should arrive prepared and check sea conditions independently.
La Carolina is best understood as a transitional coast: longer and more open than a sheltered cove, yet calmer and less developed than many exposed beaches farther along the Almería shoreline.
