About La Calera
The Vibe
La Calera is a very small semi-urban beach on the Vilaboa shore, where white sand and calm water occupy a sheltered corner of the inner Ría de Vigo.
The atmosphere is quiet and understated. Low visitor numbers, surrounding vegetation and the absence of a large promenade make it feel removed from the traffic and infrastructure crossing the nearby Rande narrows.
The beach is suited to a short pause beside the ría rather than a full resort day. Tide strongly influences the amount of sand available, and the compact shore can become noticeably smaller as the water rises.

The Setting
La Calera — A Quiet Cove Beside the Rande Narrows
The Local Anchor
San Adrián de Cobres provides the nearest maritime anchor.
Its small marina lies close to the beach, while the wider coast of Vilaboa looks towards the Rande Bridge and the historic waters around the island of San Simón. This narrow part of the ría has long been important for navigation, fisheries and movement between the inner estuary and Vigo Bay.
The bridge is now the dominant modern landmark, rising above a shoreline still formed from small coves and village harbours.
The Landscape
Spain’s official beach catalogue describes La Calera as approximately 50 metres long and 17 metres wide.
The surface is white sand, the water is generally calm and occupation is low. Vegetation reaches close to the beach, giving the semi-urban setting a softer natural edge.
Access is easy on foot or by car from the N-554, and bins are the principal recorded service. The marina of San Adrián de Cobres lies about half a kilometre away.
The CSV municipality has been corrected from Redondela to Vilaboa. The BWID municipal code 058 and the official beach record both confirm Vilaboa.
La Calera’s identity lies in quiet scale: a tiny tidal shore beneath the great crossing at Rande.
