About Loredo
The Vibe
Loredo occupies the eastern end of the long sandy system shared with Somo and El Puntal. It feels open, athletic, and slightly more removed from the urban view across Santander Bay.
Surf is a strong part of the beach’s identity, with waves reaching the exposed shoreline and schools operating in the area. Walkers can follow the sand for a considerable distance, moving between busy access points and quieter dune-backed stretches.
The beach has a natural spaciousness even at popular times. Wind, tide, and swell are always present, giving Loredo a fresh, outward-facing character.

The Local Anchor
The village of Loredo provides the local anchor, with a relaxed summer community and strong links to surfing and coastal recreation.
Offshore lies Santa Marina Island, the largest island on the Cantabrian coast, creating a distinctive landmark. Local bars and restaurants connect the beach with fish, seafood, and the rural food traditions of Trasmiera.
The Landscape
Loredo faces the open Cantabrian Sea and is backed in places by dunes and wetland environments. Its sand continues west towards Somo, while rocky sections and headlands become more evident towards the east.
Santa Marina Island sits prominently offshore, altering the horizon and giving the beach a strong visual focus. The shore receives Atlantic swell and can be energetic.
Loredo is a landscape of length and exposure — a bright strip of sand beneath a wide sky, marked by surf and the dark outline of the island.
