About A Cambra

The Vibe

A Cambra is a small open beach beside Palmeira, where fine sand and a broken rocky shoreline face the broad waters of the Ría de Arousa.

The atmosphere is quiet but closely connected to the village. The port lies only a short distance away, yet the beach feels more exposed than the inner harbour, with wind and water moving freely across the shore.

Its compact scale and open classification give it a natural, transitional character: neither a protected harbour beach nor a fully exposed Atlantic strand.

The Setting

A Cambra–Baluarte — A Small Open Shore at Palmeira

The Local Anchor

Palmeira is the beach’s clear local anchor.

The village has a working port and a long relationship with fishing and shore-based shellfish gathering. Small boats, the fishery landscape and nearby neighbourhood streets give the beach a stronger local identity than a purpose-built tourist setting.

The church of San Pedro and the port stand within a short walk, while the beaches of Insuela, Cruces and A Corna continue along the surrounding coast.

The Landscape

The official regional listing uses the combined name Cambra–Baluarte and records a length of approximately 130 metres.

The surface is fine sand and the beach is classified as open. The supplied coordinates place it beside Palmeira, not near Corrubedo or Ribeira’s western ocean coast.

Rocky sections divide and frame parts of the shoreline, while the harbour of Palmeira lies roughly a few hundred metres to the northeast. The beach also appears in the maritime Route of the Sea of Arousa and River Ulla.

Facilities are limited, reflecting its role as a small village beach.

A Cambra’s identity comes from position: open ría water ahead, the working port of Palmeira nearby and a fine-sand shore arranged between several small rocky points.
