The Vibe

Las Salinas stretches along an open section of the Roquetas de Mar coastline, where dark sand, gravel, and a steady Mediterranean breeze create a beach with more movement than shelter.

The atmosphere is spacious and active. Families share the shore with walkers and water-sports users, while the long frontage allows quieter sections to remain between the principal entrances.

Wind is part of the beach’s identity. On settled days the water is manageable for ordinary bathing, but stronger breezes quickly roughen the surface and attract windsurfers to this exposed section of coast.

The Local Anchor

The nearest anchor is Roquetas de Mar, a town shaped by fishing, tourism, and the intensive agricultural plain extending inland.

Its port and the Castillo de Santa Ana provide the strongest historic and maritime focus. Fishing boats and marina activity connect the modern resort coast with an older relationship between the town and the sea.

Local cooking reflects both worlds through grilled fish, seafood, peppers, tomatoes, and produce grown across the Almería coastal plain.

The Landscape

Las Salinas extends for approximately 1.5 kilometres and averages around 45 metres wide.

Its surface combines dark sand and gravel, while official descriptions note moderate waves and frequent wind. The setting is semi-urban rather than remote, with development and visitor services nearby but no uninterrupted wall of hotels along every section.

Facilities include toilets, showers, foot-washing points, nautical rental, sports areas, and children’s facilities during the managed season.

The result is a practical, open beach whose character comes from distance, wind, and the broad coastal plain rather than from cliffs or enclosed scenery.
