About Malvarrosa

The Vibe

Malvarrosa lies on the northern edge of Sagunto’s coast, a long, low-occupation beach where rounded stones, sand and calm Mediterranean water create a quieter alternative to the urban beach at Puerto de Sagunto.

The atmosphere is spacious and residential rather than resort-driven. Walkers follow the waterline, anglers choose places among the stones and summer visitors spread across a shore with few dense commercial distractions.

Its surface can vary between pebbles and sand, giving the beach a firmer, more natural character than the broad fine-sand beaches nearer Valencia.

The Setting

Malvarrosa — Sagunto’s Quiet Northern Shore

The Local Anchor

The immediate local anchor is the coastal settlement of Almardà and the wider territory of Sagunto.

An old channel separates Malvarrosa from neighbouring L’Almardà, preserving the memory of the wet coastal plain that once extended behind these beaches. Inland, Sagunto’s castle and Roman theatre rise above the historic city, while the Grau Vell recalls the ancient port serving Arse-Saguntum.

This unusual combination of archaeological city, industrial port and quiet northern shore gives the municipality exceptional depth.

The Landscape

Malvarrosa extends for approximately 1.2 kilometres and averages around 28 metres wide.

Official records classify it as a semi-urban beach with calm water and low occupation. Rounded stones dominate much of the shoreline, although sand appears in varying proportions and recent coastal restoration may alter the profile from season to season.

Basic facilities include toilets, foot-washing points, bins and seasonal cleaning. Puerto Siles lies several kilometres away.

Malvarrosa’s landscape is understated: a long, open edge of stone and sand between low housing, drainage channels and the flat coastal plain north of Sagunto.
