About El Arenal

The Vibe

El Pedruchillo is a slender urban beach on the Mar Menor side of La Manga, where the water lies close to apartment buildings and the Gran Vía. Its scale is intimate: a narrow band of coarse sand, a short distance from street to shore, and an enclosed lagoon view rather than the open Mediterranean horizon.

The setting is unmistakably residential and seasonal, yet the water softens the built frontage. Small craft, low wave action and the distant western shore create a calmer visual rhythm than on the opposite side of the strip.

The Setting

Playa El Pedruchillo — A Narrow Mar Menor Beach at Kilometre Eight

The Local Anchor

The anchor here is La Manga itself, the long sandy barrier separating the Mar Menor from the Mediterranean. El Pedruchillo sits around kilometre eight, within the urbanisation carrying the same name, and its identity depends on that unusual geography: two different seas only a short walk apart.

The Gran Vía provides the practical spine of the area, linking the beach with other sectors of La Manga and with public transport towards Cartagena and Murcia. There is no separate old fishing village behind the sand; the modern linear settlement is the local context.

The Landscape

San Javier tourism information describes El Pedruchillo as an urban Mar Menor beach about 500 metres long and around 10 metres wide, formed from coarse sand. Official guidance characterises its bathing conditions as tranquil and places it between kilometre points 8 and 8.5.

Access is from the Gran Vía, with parking nearby and seasonal services including toilets, foot showers, walkways, sunbed hire and assisted-bathing equipment. The beach should not be confused with El Arenal across La Manga on the Mediterranean side. El Pedruchillo belongs firmly to the lagoon: narrow, accessible and closely held by the urban strip.
