About Poniente

The Vibe

Pedrucho Norte faces the open Mediterranean from the eastern edge of La Manga. The beach is longer, broader and more exposed than El Pedruchillo on the lagoon side, with fine golden sand and a horizon uninterrupted by the enclosed shores of the Mar Menor.

Apartment blocks and urbanisations remain close behind, but the seaward view is spacious. Wind and wave conditions can give this coast a more active character, so its atmosphere changes more visibly with the weather than the sheltered beaches only a few streets away.

The Setting

Playa Pedrucho Norte — The Mediterranean Side of La Manga

The Local Anchor

The defining local fact is the narrowness of La Manga. Pedrucho Norte occupies the Mediterranean frontage while El Pedruchillo lies across the strip on the Mar Menor, making the contrast between the two coasts especially clear.

Municipal tourism groups this frontage under the wider name Pedrucho, extending through several urbanisations along the Gran Vía. The bathing-water identifier, however, distinguishes the northern sector. This matters because the CSV name Poniente refers to a different beach tradition and does not match either the BWID or the supplied coordinates.

The Landscape

The official Segura register identifies BWID ES620M0351642 as Playa Pedrucho Norte. San Javier’s current tourism page describes the broader Pedrucho beach as a Mediterranean shore of fine golden sand, around 35 metres wide, running beside urban sectors between approximately kilometres 4.9 and 7.9.

Access is from the Gran Vía, with nearby parking, bus stops and seasonal services such as toilets, walkways, restaurants and beach equipment. This is not a natural reserve beach, nor a Mar Menor cove. It is a developed, open-sea strand whose strongest feature is the immediate sense of the Mediterranean beyond La Manga’s narrow barrier.
