About El Mojón

The Vibe

El Mojón is a semi-urban Mediterranean beach at the northern end of San Pedro del Pinatar, where a modest seaside settlement meets the beginning of a protected coastal landscape. Fine grey sand, a low promenade and open water give it a straightforward, unpolished character.

The beach is used and serviced, but it does not feel enclosed by a dense resort frontage. To the south, the dunes and open ground of the Salinas y Arenales regional park begin to influence the view; to the north, the same settlement continues across the administrative boundary into Alicante.

The Local Anchor

The village of El Mojón is divided between two municipalities and two autonomous communities. The Murcia sector belongs to San Pedro del Pinatar, while the adjoining northern shore belongs to Pilar de la Horadada in Alicante. That border is the essential local reference and explains why two separate bathing-water records carry the same beach name.

Immediately south lies the Parque Regional de las Salinas y Arenales de San Pedro del Pinatar, a protected system of salt pans, dunes and coastal habitats. El Mojón forms the developed threshold to that landscape.

The Landscape

Regional tourism information describes the San Pedro beach as approximately 465 metres long and 50 metres wide, with fine grey sand and a semi-urban setting. It has a promenade, designated parking and access from the AP-7 or N-332 through the El Mojón turn-off.

Official listings include seasonal rescue cover, walkways, ramps, selective-waste containers, a children’s area and beach bars. The report refers specifically to BWID ES620M0361653 on the Murcia side, historically listed as El Mojón-Derecha, not to the separate Alicante bathing-water zone immediately north.
