About Las Salinas (Playas de la Llana)
The Vibe
Las Salinas is the first and most accessible section of the Playas de La Llana, a long natural shoreline running south from the port of San Pedro del Pinatar. The Mediterranean lies open to the east, while dunes and the working salt-pan landscape extend inland.
Despite its proximity to parking and the harbour, the beach feels governed by the protected setting rather than by urban development. Fine grey sand, low dune vegetation and the wide coastal sky create a quieter atmosphere than the town beaches around the Mar Menor.

The Setting
Playa La Llana–Las Salinas — Dunes, Salt Pans and Open Mediterranean
The Local Anchor
The anchor is the Parque Regional de las Salinas y Arenales de San Pedro del Pinatar. Its salt ponds, dunes and wetlands occupy the land between the two seas and support a landscape shaped both by natural processes and salt production.
Las Salinas forms the northern entrance to La Llana. Farther south come Barraca Quemada and Punta de Algas, where the shoreline approaches the channels linking the Mediterranean with the Mar Menor and the traditional fishing structures known as encañizadas.
The Landscape
Regional tourism information describes the Las Salinas section as approximately 1,200 metres long and around 10 metres wide, with fine grey sand. It lies within the protected regional park and is the busiest of La Llana’s beaches because it is closest to the designated parking area.
Access is reached along Avenida del Puerto, continuing towards the regional park and the seaward side of San Pedro’s harbour. Officially listed seasonal provisions include rescue cover, bins, accessible parking and nearby restaurants. Bathing-water identifier ES620M0361654 covers the broader La Llana–Las Salinas zone, whose official hydrological length is greater than the individual tourism section. Both names refer to the same northern natural beach system.
