The Vibe

La Platjola is a compact urban cove where coarse sand and rock sit beneath the steep coastal form of Sant Pol de Mar.

Its small scale creates an intimate atmosphere. The water is never far from the upper beach, and a modest number of visitors can make the cove feel lively during summer. At quieter times, it becomes a simple place to pause beside the Mediterranean, with little separating the sand from the village above.

The shoreline is more rugged than the broad beaches typical of the southern Maresme, reflecting Sant Pol’s broken sequence of small coves and rocky points.

The Local Anchor

Sant Pol de Mar retains the appearance of a traditional Mediterranean village, with white houses and narrow streets rising from a coastline that recalls its maritime origins.

The hilltop church and former monastery of Sant Pau form the historic landmark from which the town takes its name. Below, the railway, old waterfront and fishing associations preserve a close connection between village and sea.

La Platjola is not a destination apart from Sant Pol; it feels like one of the village’s small natural rooms opening directly onto the water.

The Landscape

Municipal records describe La Platjola as an urban cove approximately 114 metres long, with a width that varies according to sea conditions.

Access is on foot, and services are deliberately limited. Bins are provided during the beach season, while lifeguard surveillance operates from the nearby viewpoint during the main summer period.

The shore is formed from the clean, coarse sand characteristic of Sant Pol, with rocky edges reinforcing its enclosed shape.

La Platjola’s appeal lies in proportion: a small beach, closely held by the village and the irregular Maresme coast.
