About Platja de les “Caletes”
The Vibe
Platja de les Caletes is not one uninterrupted sweep of sand but a sequence of smaller beach sections divided by rocky groynes.
This broken shape gives the shore a more intimate character than neighbouring Platja de Llevant. Each section feels like a separate pocket of golden, coarse sand, though the railway, hotels and coastal road keep the setting clearly connected to Santa Susanna’s developed waterfront.
Moderate waves and a relatively steep entry can make the water more energetic than it first appears. The beach is best enjoyed with attention to local flags and conditions.

The Setting
Platja de les Caletes — Small Bays Along the Maresme
The Local Anchor
Santa Susanna provides the wider setting, with its tourist district concentrated beside the sea and its historic centre lying inland.
The contrast is especially visible here. Apartments, hotels, the railway station and the N-II stand close to the beach, while the older municipality retains watchtowers, farmhouses and agricultural ground beyond the coastal strip.
Les Caletes belongs to the modern seafront, but its name preserves the physical form of the shoreline itself: several little coves created and separated by rock.
The Landscape
Official records describe the beach as approximately 445 metres long and around 20 metres wide.
Its surface is golden sand, with rocky divisions forming the individual caletes. The beach is semi-urban, windy and normally associated with moderate waves.
Facilities are more limited than on Platja de Llevant, but toilets, showers, bins and cleaning are recorded. Nearby beaches and the hotel district provide additional services within walking distance.
The railway runs close behind the shore, reinforcing its narrow coastal setting.
Les Caletes is valued less for complete natural isolation than for variety: a series of small, visually distinct bathing spaces within Santa Susanna’s continuous Mediterranean frontage.
