The Vibe

Foxos faces the outer coast beside the A Lanzada headland, where the Rías Baixas begin to feel broader and more exposed. The beach has a direct, elemental character: fine sand, open water and a horizon less enclosed than the coves around Portonovo.

The atmosphere is shaped by that openness. Wind and swell can be more noticeable here, and the shore feels closely tied to the larger Atlantic landscape. Yet Foxos is not detached from its surroundings; the historic headland, neighbouring beaches and low coastal paths give the place a clear sense of position.

The Local Anchor

The nearby Punta da Lanzada carries one of Sanxenxo’s deepest layers of coastal history. Municipal tourism information traces human occupation of the site back around three thousand years, while archaeological remains include a castro and a late-Roman burial area.

These remains make the headland more than a viewpoint. They show how generations used this narrow piece of coast for settlement, defence, navigation and ritual, long before the present beach landscape became associated with summer visitors.

The Landscape

Foxos lies in the parish of Noalla, immediately beside the A Lanzada promontory. Official sources identify it as a fine-sand beach, and its coordinates place it on the more open side of Sanxenxo’s coastline rather than inside a harbour or compact urban bay.

The adjoining headland and coastal environment form part of a landscape recognised for its environmental value, including areas within the Natura 2000 network. Sand, rock and low maritime vegetation meet in a relatively concentrated space, with the historic peninsula rising beside the shore. The bathing-water code confirms this is the Foxos at A Lanzada, not another beach of the same name elsewhere on the Galician coast.
