About Sant Sebastià

The Vibe

Sant Sebastià is one of Sitges’ most intimate urban beaches, a compact curve of golden sand held between the old town and the quieter eastern waterfront.

The atmosphere is sociable without feeling as expansive as the larger beaches west of the church. Families, residents and visitors gather close to the promenade, while calm water and easy access make the beach especially inviting during settled weather. From the sand, the historic quarter rises above the sea in a close arrangement of white façades, stone walls and tiled roofs.

The setting is unmistakably urban, yet the view towards the old town gives the beach a strong identity of its own.

The Local Anchor

The local anchor is the historic centre of Sitges, crowned by the Church of Sant Bartomeu i Santa Tecla.

Nearby, the Cau Ferrat and Maricel museums preserve the town’s artistic connection with Santiago Rusiñol, Modernisme and the cultural life that transformed Sitges into far more than a conventional seaside resort.

Restaurants around the waterfront connect the beach with local cooking through fish, rice dishes and xató, the salad of escarole, salt fish, olives and a distinctive nut-and-pepper sauce associated with Sitges and the Penedès-Garraf area.

The Landscape

Sant Sebastià extends for approximately 205 metres and averages around 20 metres wide.

Its surface is golden sand and the usual bathing conditions are described as calm. The beach is fully urban and highly occupied during the main summer season.

Hotels, restaurants and a promenade lie immediately behind it, while toilets, showers, lounger and parasol rental and seasonal watercraft hire provide practical comfort.

Sant Sebastià’s appeal lies in proximity: calm Mediterranean water below, the old quarter above and the cultural heart of Sitges only a few steps from the sand.
