Restaurants, parking and seasonal activities make a full beach day straightforward, while the curving bay and green headlands soften the urban backdrop. The beach is popular in summer and can become lively around the central access points, but mornings and evenings reveal a calmer local rhythm. Its sheltered appearance is appealing, although swimmers must still follow flags because wind and waves can enter the bay.

Platja de la Mora is a broad, fine-sand beach within the La Mora residential area of Tarragona. It offers a comfortable balance between a serviced family shore and a landscape that still feels connected to protected nature.

The Torre de la Mora gives the area a direct historical reference. The watchtower was built after pirate attacks in 1561 to observe possible landings along the cove, connecting today's residential beach with a period when this coast required active defence. Beyond the eastern side begins the protected Tamarit-Punta de la Mora landscape, including the Bosc de la Marquesa and a sequence of rocky coves reached on foot. The tower and protected coast provide a useful counterpoint to the restaurants and houses around the main bay, showing how developed and natural sections sit close together.

The beach measures roughly 520 metres by 65 metres and is formed from fine golden sand. Rocky headlands enclose a wide curve, while low hills and vegetation frame the water without blocking the open Mediterranean view. The shore is easier to access than the wild coves beyond the headland, and water-sports activity may operate in marked areas during the season. Swimmers should keep clear of channels and avoid the rocks when swell is present. The protected Punta de la Mora area begins close by, but the main beach itself is semi-urban rather than remote. Platja de la Mora's appeal lies in this meeting point: a practical, spacious bay for families, a sixteenth-century lookout above the coast and walking access towards one of Tarragona's most valuable remaining stretches of woodland and rocky shoreline.
