About L'Almadrava
The Vibe
L’Almadrava is a long, tranquil beach where fine sand and transparent Mediterranean water run beside a small settlement of white houses.
The atmosphere is residential and unhurried. A promenade follows the shore, but the village remains low in scale and the beach feels removed from the more intensive holiday development found farther north. Anglers work from the waterline and from small boats, while swimmers spread along a shoreline generous enough to retain quiet sections in summer.
At the southern end, rocky underwater features add interest for experienced snorkellers and divers when sea conditions permit.

L’Almadrava — White Houses and Transparent Water
The Local Anchor
The local anchor is the village of L’Almadrava, situated south of L’Hospitalet de l’Infant beyond the Coll de Balaguer.
Its name preserves the memory of the almadrava, the traditional system of nets once used to intercept migrating tuna. The technique required shallow bays and organised coastal labour, linking the modern beach with a much older Mediterranean fishing practice.
The white houses and modest seafront give the settlement the appearance of a small fishing village, while L’Hospitalet provides the municipality’s larger centre and services.
The Landscape
L’Almadrava extends for approximately 1.6 kilometres.
The surface is fine sand and the water is known for its clarity. A pleasant promenade runs beside much of the beach, with the village immediately behind rather than a dense line of high-rise buildings.
The southern sector includes an area valued for diving, while shore and boat fishing remain characteristic activities. Seasonal lifeguard cover operates during the principal bathing period.
L’Almadrava is defined by continuity: a long sandy edge, calm village frontage and a maritime name rooted in the movement of tuna along this coast.
