The Vibe

Argazada is part of Vigo’s continuous Samil waterfront, a long urban beach where the city meets the estuary without a sharp break. Its fine sand and sheltered position create an accessible shoreline, while the promenade and recreational spaces behind it keep the setting unmistakably metropolitan.

The character is open and practical rather than secluded. People arrive from surrounding neighbourhoods, buses and parking areas, and the beach functions as an extension of the public seafront. Even so, the broad view across the Ría de Vigo prevents the urban edge from overwhelming the water.

The Local Anchor

The Xunta de Galicia lists Argazada on the Portuguese Coastal Way, one of the routes by which walkers approach Vigo along the Atlantic-facing shore. This places the beach within a journey that links small coastal settlements, the city’s western neighbourhoods and the historic centre beyond.

The Samil frontage is the immediate local anchor: a civic landscape of paths, green areas and recreation that has made this stretch of coast one of Vigo’s principal public spaces.

The Landscape

Official records name the beach simply Argazada, correcting the CSV form “De Argazada”. It lies in the parish of Alcabre and is also known locally as A Argazada, Laxón or Playa Azul. Municipal information gives dimensions of approximately 410 by 20 metres and records direct access from Avenida de Samil.

The beach is described regionally as sheltered and fine-sanded. Ramps, steps, accessible toilets, showers, foot-washes, fountains, parking and nearby food services are listed by the city, together with green and skating areas behind the shore. The bathing-water code and coordinates distinguish this Vigo beach from any similarly named coastal site.
