Figueiras

The Vibe

Figueiras lies on the eastern shore of Monteagudo, the northern island of the Cíes archipelago. Reached only by boat and then on foot, it has a calm, detached character shaped by the protected landscape around it rather than by buildings or roads.

The beach is officially recognised as a place where naturism is practised. Its quiet identity comes from the island setting, the measured flow of visitors along the path and the contrast between pale sand, clear shallows and the darker rock of the headlands.

The Local Anchor

The anchor here is the Atlantic Islands of Galicia National Park itself. Visitors arrive at the Rodas pier and follow marked routes through a landscape managed for conservation, with daily access controls during the busiest periods. Figueiras is reached by turning right from the pier and following the small path towards Monteagudo.

The park’s geography is essential to the experience: steep western cliffs face the open Atlantic, while sandy beaches occupy the more protected eastern side of the islands.

The Landscape

Vigo’s official tourism listing gives Figueiras dimensions of roughly 350 by 50 metres and records its alternative name, Playa de los Alemanes. The beach occupies a broad sandy inlet on Monteagudo, with rocky ends and wooded or scrub-covered slopes behind the shore.

There is no road access. Park information identifies a rest area along the path to Figueiras and warns that potable water is not available on the islands, so visitors must plan accordingly and remove their waste. The BWID and coordinates establish this as the Cíes beach in Vigo, not another Galician Figueiras with the same name.
