Nosa Señora

The Vibe

Nosa Señora is a small beach on O Faro, the central island of the Cíes archipelago. It lies beyond the main arrival area at Rodas and feels increasingly quiet as the path moves away from the busiest part of the islands.

The cove is officially described as sheltered from northerly winds. Its limited size, clear island setting and closeness to the rocky channel between the islands give it a contained, almost private scale, although it remains part of a protected and carefully managed public landscape.

The Local Anchor

The beach sits beside the route towards Faro da Porta. That path passes the lagoon known as O Lago, crosses the island landscape and continues towards viewpoints over the narrow Freu da Porta channel. The journey connects the small shore with the larger geography of Cíes: dunes, lagoon, rock and open Atlantic water.

A shaded resting and picnic area near the beach provides one of the few formal pauses along this section of the route.

The Landscape

Nosa Señora is reached by boat to Rodas, then on foot across O Faro and past the beach of Bolos. Vigo’s tourism information records it as a narrow sandy cove, also known as Carracido. Official measurements vary slightly, giving a length of about 125 to 140 metres and a width near 20 metres.

There are no roads or ordinary urban services. Access, waste and visitor numbers are governed by national-park rules, and travellers must bring drinking water. The coordinates and bathing-water code identify this specific Cíes beach. It must not be confused with Nosa Señora da Lanzada beside the chapel in Sanxenxo, despite the shared name.
