Cloud shadows travel quickly down the slopes, changing the beach from bright to austere within minutes. Even in still weather, the shore is never silent; rock, foam and tide keep the landscape in motion. The Local Anchor

La Sepultura is a long, undeveloped northern beach of mixed sand and stone. Its exposed position can bring strong surf, and it is valued more for wildness than convenience.

Around La Sepultura, the surrounding municipality is Vallehermoso, where palms and cultivated terraces occupy valleys beneath the high central forest. After a visit to La Sepultura, palm honey, almogrote and local cheese are the natural tastes of the area, balancing the salt and wind of the northern shore.

The Landscape

Facing the north side of La Gomera, La Sepultura is framed by a cooler, greener backdrop and a sea often exposed to full Atlantic energy.

A narrow strand of volcanic material follows the landform, expanding or contracting with tide and recent sea conditions. Access and water conditions at La Sepultura may be very different after swell, rain or rockfall, so an on-site check is essential. La Sepultura is best understood as a small opening onto the larger geological story of La Gomera.
