The Local Anchor

El Pozo Norte belongs to La Palma’s compressed coastal geography, where coves sit directly below cultivated slopes, scattered villages and old fishing places.

Around El Pozo Norte, behind the shore rises Villa de Mazo, where traditional crafts and cultivation remain important to local identity. After a visit to El Pozo Norte, the coastal table is correspondingly simple—fresh catch, potatoes, cheese and mojo—served without separating the sea from the working land above it.

The Landscape

Facing the south east side of La Palma, El Pozo Norte is framed by bright light, low vegetation and a coast opening toward the warmer southern horizon.

A narrow strand of volcanic material follows the landform, expanding or contracting with tide and recent sea conditions. A cautious approach preserves the pleasure of El Pozo Norte without treating a volcanic Atlantic shore as predictable. A slow visit allows El Pozo Norte to make sense, not as an attraction placed on the coast but as part of the coast itself.
