About Playa a Corna - Ribeira
The broad, sheltered bay creates an easy beach-day atmosphere. There is space for walking, families and quiet stretches away from the busiest access points. The water often appears calmer than on the western coast, although tide, wind and local conditions still matter. The beach's length prevents it from feeling cramped, and the inward-looking ria view gives the whole shore a softer character than the exposed sands near Corrubedo.

The Setting
A Corna is a long sheltered beach on the inner Ria de Arousa, stretching between the Palmeira side of Ribeira and the Cabio and Xobre area of A Pobra do Caraminal. The continuous sweep of fine sand reaches for roughly a kilometre, with a gently curving shore and a much more protected setting than Ribeira's Atlantic-facing beaches. From the Ribeira end, Palmeira provides the nearest village access and local identity.
Palmeira is the key anchor on the Ribeira side, with a fishing harbour, compact waterfront and narrow village streets close to the sand. Farther along the beach, the coastline continues towards Cabio and A Pobra do Caraminal. This connection between two communities is part of A Corna's identity: it is one continuous coastal landscape rather than a small isolated cove, and visitors can experience different sections by walking along the shore.
Fine sand follows the curve of the ria, backed in places by trees, low development and the edges of the neighbouring settlements. The water opens towards the island-dotted interior of Arousa rather than directly to the Atlantic. Long views, gentle shoreline curves and changing tidal bands define the scene. At low water the beach feels especially broad; as the tide rises, the sea draws closer to the planted and built edges behind the sand.
A Corna is especially rewarding for walkers because the long strand links different access points and changing views of the neighbouring settlements. The beach never feels entirely cut off from local life, yet its length creates quieter sections between the busier village ends.
